Long Live the Tradition, Wrestling Culture and Soul of Omueke

Coming from a land as this one, and knowing sometimes things don’t always work out as much as people want. Still people try to make the things they love so much work out. Not neglecting every other part of life that comes with good and evil thriving and living together side by side. Wrestling, a known activity in some parts of the world with the ability to bring humans and animals together. Comparing their strengths and weaknesses on days when they chose to. No one believes anyone is stronger or weaker than the other. 

The Tradition of a People Always Prevails

Long live the tradition of the people of Omueke, in Igwuruta. Amazing how much the people love their activities. Going from one activity to another. Down to the main occasion as seen in the images and my upcoming YouTube video. The activity that involves not just one but two, three and a few hundreds. Hosted and organized by the Royal family and members of Omueke community at large. A powerful but peaceful clan in ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers state. Long live the South.

Gracing The Occasion to Meet Family Members and Friends of Villages Far By

A beautiful evening well deserved, even though i went straight into resting mood. After capturing a few moments of activity while the games commenced. Cso displaying past right after the rain 🌧️ turned up and almost made a mess of the place. 

Hearing it was done by a local who used that as his source of energy and finance. People would consult him to clear the skyies in ways that would enable them have occasions. I mean this things do happen with some level of confidence. In this case they did the intentional part of it which is luring the waters of the skies to pour down on us. Life and information in our daily lives is all we have to live for. 

And the arrangements went on and on with the community heads and leaders gracing the people with their presence. If there was a time for love to be shown, this to me is one moment. Sons and daughters, mothers and everyone who had a link to Igwuruta Community. Either invited by their friends, lovers, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers. It was a great experience being in the midst of all of them and more. Fleshing and sorting all needs one way or another. Seeing how they agree to the activity of the day. For the intent of making a great event for the community’s sake. Somehow as they are all one and for all they shall live and thrive side by side.

Accolades to the security service men who graced the streets. They made sure the people were safe as their job are done with ease. I am grateful to my brother, Promise wosu and to the inspector general who made approval of this security presence. We give thanks to the People who graced the invites of their friends and well wishers. We know what it means to come from different parts of the world to grace us as a people.

Accolades to the Chiefs and Royal Highnesses who graced the occasion. None for display of achievements but for the love and respect they hold the land. Amazing how the people of Omueke escorted different members of the families home. Including the Royal families from the market where the occasion held, to their homes. Escorting some important members of the omueke community. This is to show the unity in the community and of course the security agents walking at a distance. All this activities kept the place much peaceful. Some special assigned security personnels doing their job and deescalating what so ever might erupt from the gathering.

As the night slowly drew to an end, you could hear the laughter, drums, footsteps. Erupting was the sound of bangers and knockouts. What a big day. Still the night drew near to nature. Everything fading into the calm of Omueke’s evening air. 

The people have once again proven that no matter the changes life brings, tradition still holds its ground. It binds the hearts of those who belong and even those who come to witness.

There’s always going to be something special about moments like this. When a whole community moves as one, in spirit and in joy. The love, the unity, the resilience, all shining on the faces of Omueke’s sons and daughters.

This is just a little view through my own eyes. But as every story lives in many hearts, the next piece, imagine what will be showcased. Maybe what others saw? im sure some felt things from that unforgettable day in Igwuruta. Long live the tradition. Long live the people of Omueke.
